How we got started:
- Achieved 501c3 status in November of 2010.
- Launched website October 2010 and Facebook page October 2010.
- Held first official fundraiser, called Bark Fest, October 2010. Held second fundraiser, called Santa Paws Workshop and Bazaar December 2010.
- Applied for first grant to fund companion animal spay and neuter program November 2010… papers were sent out the day we received non-profit status.
We have been actively applying for grants and funding from national foundations to bring funds to North Idaho from outside the community.
**Starting a non-profit is no easy task and some ask "why is it necessary to be 501c3?" Well, begging from the community we are trying to help limits our ability to do the most we can do. With 501c3 status we can apply for national grants enabling us to have a greater impact. But we certainly cannot do without local support, such as you. Remember, your support doesn't have to be money; you can also give your time and volunteer!
